If you only need a quick answer such as "150 plus GST" or "3,500 GST", these tables save you the GST calculation. The first table adds GST to a price, and the second removes GST from a total that already includes it. For any other amount, use our GST calculator.

How to add GST to a price

Total = Price × (1 + rate ÷ 100). For example, 3,500 plus 18% GST: 3,500 × 0.18 = 630 GST, so the total is 4,130.

Table 1: amount plus GST

Price before GST5% GST12% GST18% GST28% GST
100+5 = 105+12 = 112+18 = 118+28 = 128
150+7.50 = 157.50+18 = 168+27 = 177+42 = 192
500+25 = 525+60 = 560+90 = 590+140 = 640
1,000+50 = 1,050+120 = 1,120+180 = 1,180+280 = 1,280
1,500+75 = 1,575+180 = 1,680+270 = 1,770+420 = 1,920
2,000+100 = 2,100+240 = 2,240+360 = 2,360+560 = 2,560
3,500+175 = 3,675+420 = 3,920+630 = 4,130+980 = 4,480
5,000+250 = 5,250+600 = 5,600+900 = 5,900+1,400 = 6,400
10,000+500 = 10,500+1,200 = 11,200+1,800 = 11,800+2,800 = 12,800
50,000+2,500 = 52,500+6,000 = 56,000+9,000 = 59,000+14,000 = 64,000

Table 2: GST included in a total

Use this when the amount already includes GST, for example a receipt that says "inclusive of taxes". GST = Total × rate ÷ (100 + rate).
